DID YOU KNOW ABOUT – PACKAGING

Packaging represents the largest single sector of plastics used in the UK. This accounts for 35% of UK plastic consumption. Plastic is the material of choice in nearly half of all packaged goods.

We only recycle about 15% of our packaging

About 22% of the total cost of perfumes and cosmetics are for packaging

One of the biggest sources of waste each Christmas is wrapping paper, with more than 8,000 tonnes being used each year - the equivalent of approximately 50,000 trees.
USES FOR RECYCLED PACKAGING
Polystyrene packaging
Cardboard boxes

Padded bags can be reused many times.
Polystyrene beads can be collected up and saved for reuse.
Paper unsuited to recycling, such as coloured paper, can be shredded and used as protective padding.
Pieces of cards, such as those that form the back of A4 notepads, can be saved to stiffen envelopes, for sending photographs or artwork to printers.
Cardboard boxes can be reused for sending bulk orders.
Unusual sized envelopes are worth keeping for the occasional non-standard package.
