DID YOU KNOW ABOUT – WATER

The daily human requirement of water for healthy living is 2.5 litres for drinking and 9 litres for hygiene per day.

In the UK 8 litres is spent on flushing the toilet, 80 litres having a bath, 1000 litres using the garden hose for 1 hour.

In fact the average person was using 150 litres a day in 2005

HOW TO SAVE WATER
Toilet
Shower

Fit a water saving device in the cistern of your toilet, it could save a litre of water with every flush.

Take a shower instead of a bath and save an average of 50 litres

Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and rinse from a glass – a family of 4 could save 80 litres.

Repair dripping taps – dripping taps can waste 80 litres a week

Water your garden with a watering can, hopefully with rain water collected in a water butt

Water the roots of garden plants not the leaves

Do a full load of washing or dishwashing, rather than a half load
